Parents and players new to Mountain View-Los Altos Girls Softball  may want to visit the General Information section for detailed information regarding age divisions, how teams are formed, time estimates and locations for practices and games, equipment needs and helpful tips for parents.

The Spring 2008 Season will begin play in March 2007 and run through May. MVLA is open to all girls age 5 through 16 living in or near the Mountain View-Los Altos area, regardless of ability or experience.

Registration is open from November 15th through January 13th.  After January 13th you may still register however there is no guarantee that your player will be assigned to a team.  There is also a late fee associated with any registration after January 13th.

REGISTRATION UPDATE, MID-March -

MVLA Girls Softball is no longer accepting registrations. If you would like to place your daughter on a wait list please contact the Player Agent  by email at agents@mvlags.org

The league offers several ways to register.  The most convenient is Online Registration.  You can also download the forms and Register By Mail or choose Walk-In Registration scheduled for January 11th, 2008.

Registration Fees

The registration fee is based on the player's age division (see Age Divisions below).

Families with more than one player receive a $10 discount for the 2nd and 3rd siblings and the 4th sibling plays free.  A limited number of scholarships are available for families in need of assistance. Please contact us with your request.

Age Divisions

Age division is determined based on the Player's year of birth. Playing out of the appropriate age division is discouraged but may be requested during registration (see below), and will be considered on a case-by-case basis. These age divisions are consistent with national ASA standards and most leagues in neighboring communities.

Below are some helpful tips to keep in mind when registering and a step-by-step guide to the registration process.  If you have any questions or problems with the registration process, please see Registration FAQs, email us, or call our hotline at 650-964-6489.

 

Experience	An accurate assessment of each player’s experience helps us form the most balanced teams possible. Tell us how many (if any) seasons your player has played in organized softball.
Pitcher / Catcher	Please indicate if you daughter was a primary or secondary Pitcher or Catcher on a team last season as we evenly distribute these players across teams. New players with prior pitching experience will be evaluated prior to team placement.  Players interested in learning these positions should inform their Coach at the first practice.
Sister or Buddy Request	This field allows you to name a Sister or a Buddy to play on  the same age division team. Buddy requests are only for girls in 10U and higher. Both girls must request each other on their respective registration forms.  Note: buddies may not both be pitchers or catchers and it may not be possible for two All-Star or Nova players to be buddies.
Special Requests	Use this field to indicate special requests such as - a different school in 6U/8U - request to play up/down - request to NOT play with sister - other information that will help us place your player appropriately.
Volunteer	Each family is requested to make a selection in the volunteer area. Every effort is made by team/ league staff to make volunteering as easy and convenient to your schedule as possible. The Team Manager will contact you regarding your selection.

Online Registration

Everything necessary to complete the registration process is now available online. Simply select the link below, complete the forms and pay by credit card via PayPal (or, if preferred, mail a check payable to MVLA Girls Softball).

Before you begin:

1. Have your daughter's doctor and medical insurance information ready

2. Review information on volunteer positions

3. Ask you daughter if she has a "buddy request"

If you prefer not to register online, simply download the Registration Packet, fill out the forms and mail with your check (payable to MVLA Girls Softball) to:

Registration is complete when we receive the completed Registration Packet which includes: Registration Application; Medical Release; Volunteer Form; Parent Code of Conduct and payment.

Walk-in Registration

MVLA will hold one walk-in registration on Saturday, January 12 from 9am to 12 pm at:

Registration forms will be available or you may download the Registration Packet and fill out the forms before arriving.
