Pre-Season Clinics: Pre-Season has ended... MVLA Girls Softball is holding Clinics for new and returning players two weekends in February.
In 2007 we had over 250 girls attend these clinics to rave reviews !!
6U/8U Divisions - These clinics are an excellent opportunity for players to learn some fundamentals, meet other players, and begin their softball experience with MVLA Girls Softball. Parents are welcome and strongly encouraged to attend alongside their player to learn some of the basics of teaching girls softball. Nervous about participating? You’re exactly the parent we want. Players should bring their glove (cleats are optional).
10U and Over Divisions - Returning players will also benefit from practicing skills that may have gotten a little rusty since the last softball season. Players should bring their glove and cleats.
The Saturday February 2nd Clinic will be held at the Crittenden Middle School Softball Field
The Saturday February 23rd THIS CLINIC IS CANCELLED DUE TO FIELD CONDITIONS AND WEATHER

6U & 8U 9:45 Check In- 10:00- 11:00 Clinic 10U/12U/14U 11:15 Check In- 11:30-1:00 Clinic Clinic Overview:
Our Umpire-in-Chief will be holding an umpire clinic for those people who have expressed interest in umpiring for MVLA Girls Softball this year.
Our head scorekeeper will teach the in's and out's of being an MLVA scorekeeper. Each 8U and over team must send at least one scorekeeper.
The objective of the "Scorekeeping Clinic" is to cover vital scorekeeping elements that scorekeepers will need to know in order to report games to the league. Material covered in the clinic will include how to fill out and file the Game Summary Report, and, although very rare, what the scorekeeper needs to do when a game is protested. Fundamentals of scorekeeping, responsibilities of the scorekeeper and how to use the scorekeeping book will also be covered.
Join us for an exciting start to the season at the Opening Day Ceremonies from the gathering of all teams and staff in uniform for a salute to the Flag and the singing of the National Anthem, to the welcome speeches and the throwing of the ceremonial first pitches.
Coaches Clinics: 3/2/08 On Sunday 3/2 we will be holding several Hands-On coaches clinics at Stevenson Park as a follow-up to our Classroom clinic of 1/30. We are hiring the Staff of Cutting Edge Softball to run these clinics and they don’t come cheap so please take the time to attend these informative clinics. Information on Cutting Edge can be found at www.cuttingedgesoftball.com Many players in our league have attended Clinics/Camps run by Cutting Edge and we have found them to be very knowledgeable and informative. Coaches' Hitting + Defense Clinics: Description: Hitting, Fielding, Throwing, Base Running The Clinic for 6U and 8U will be from 8:30 until 9:45 The Clinic for 10U/12U/14U will be from 9:45 until 11:30 All Attendees should come “softball ready” with gloves and bats. 8U Pitching Clinic 10:00 Following the 6U/8U Hitting and Defense Clinic Terry McHugh and Alan Lundberg will be holding an 8U Pitching Clinic. Understanding the mechanics of the windmill pitch early in the season will allow coaches to instruct their players and will go a long way towards having a fast-paced games and an enjoyable season. This clinic will be helpful as well for parents of pitchers on your team- please invite them. 10U/12U/14U Pitching Clinic We will hold a pitching clinic for coaches on the older divisions following the 10U+ Coaches Clinic (about 11:45) if there is sufficient interest.
