About Us

Established in 1972, MV-LA Girls Softball (MVLAGS) is an ASA-sanctioned recreational league committed to giving girls ages 5 to 16 the opportunity to explore and enjoy the game of softball. In 2011, we had 47 teams playing across the five age divisions with sixteen 6U teams alone!

Closing Day - What a great softball season it's been! Closing Day is this Saturday, May 19th. Most teams will have their last games and team parties on this day and there will be lots of great softball going on, including two championship games: the 12U Championship, between the vaunted Caliente and the indefatigable Purple Bombers, and the 10U Championship game, in which the mighty Golden Grizzlies will face the formidable Fuchsia Firebirds. The 12U game is at 9:00 a.m. at American Girl, and the 10U game is at 11:30 a.m., also at American Girl. Both games will be filmed and then broadcast at a later date on the local cable TV station KMVT (www.kmvt15.org). We'll see you out there! Thanks so much,

Why Should I Choose MVLA Girls Softball for my Daughter?

100% Girls Softball! Since 1972. Our all-girls softball league has a rich history in Mountain View and Los Altos. We encourage you to view this brief presentation on the many benefits our league provides to our players and their families.

How Teams are Formed

In the younger 6U and 8U divisions (girls born in 2003 - 2006 range), we form teams by grouping girls from the same school together. Practices are typically held at the home school at a time/day/place agreed upon by the team at Team Meeting Night (mid- February). The girls really enjoy playing with their classmates against teams from a wide range of area schools.

We form skill-balanced teams in our 10U, 12U and 14/16U divisions (girls born in 1995 - 2001). Each January, we hold a player skills evaluation to assess these players’ relative experience levels, after which we form teams with equal numbers of experienced and newer players from across the area. The girls really enjoy making new friends from different schools and learning some higher level softball skills.
